INDIAN SCHOOL MUSCAT (ISM) was established for educating the Indian children living in The Sultanate of Oman on the 15th August 1975. The land for the school was gifted by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the benevolent Ruler of Oman. The school started with 33 students and 4 teachers; its present strength is 9480 students and 355 teachers (as on 10.05.2018).
The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. It has the latest facilities in its laboratories and computer rooms besides classroom aids; professionally designed playground with artificial turf and state-of-the-art multipurpose hall. Founded in July 1990 by Dr. P Mohamed Ali primarily for the children of the Indian expatriates in the Sultanate of Oman, Indian School Al Ghubra, located in the capital city of Muscat has over 3250 students. The Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir was formally founded in 1941 as a Gujarati Medium School for the children of the members of the business community. It began to take its present shape in 1987, as Indian School Muttrah with English as a medium of instruction. It was established to look after the educational needs of the children of Indian expatriates working in the Sultanate of Oman. It follows the Indian curriculum and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The school prepares students for the All India Secondary School Examination at the end of Grade X, since 1996, and for the All India Senior School Certificate Examination at the end of Grade XII, since 2001. Indian School Darsait (ISD) was founded in 1992 with 127 students as a sister concern of Indian School Muscat, blossomed as an independent entity in 1994 and moved to its present location on 6 July 1998 with advanced facilities. The school has two blocks – one for Primary and the other for Secondary and Senior Secondary Classes with Commerce and Science Stream. The present student strength is 3820, 127 Teaching Staff, 22 National/Omani Staff & 10 Non-teaching Staff. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Indian School Salalah was established on 10th July 1981 to provide education to Indian Students. Indian School Rustaq was established in 1993 for providing schooling facility for Indians living in and around Al Rustaq, in South Batinah Region. The school was started as kindergarten, and presently it has classes up to standard VIII. It has, at present, more than 300 students and a total staff of fifteen. Indian School Al Buraimi was founded on 12 June 2010 with the Principal, three teachers and 52 students up to class 2. In the following year, school was upgraded to class 6 and the strength increased to 180 students. In 2013-14 the school added two more levels to reach class 8. In 2013 school received “Ambassador’s Trophy” for the most improved schools, under less than 500 students category. We started the process of CBSE affiliation in 2013 and finally we got affiliated to CBSE in the academic year 2017 – 2018, for secondary classes, and it was a proud moment for all the members of Indian School Al Buraimi family.
