The Center for Special Education, functioning under the aegis of Indian Schools in Oman has inaugurated their new facilities while also launching ‘a new name and logo for the center. The 26-year-old organisation will now be called as “Care and Special Education.”
The soft launch of the new name and logo along with the inauguration of several new facilities such as a new Play Area, IT Lab, Music Therapy system and CTV, was held on Saturday, 7th April 2018, at the school premises, in the presence of eminent dignitaries. The chief guest for the occasion was Mr.Kiran Asher, renowned businessperson and an advocate of various social causes in the Sultanate.Other invitees included the Guest of Honour, Dr.Sathish Nambiar, President, Indian Social Club and BOD members, Indian Schools Oman.
The new play area has been specifically created to allow children to develop their physical abilities and strengthen their senses. This and the other new facilities such as the Computer Lab and the Music therapy too are intended to impart social skills to its students besides learning and recreation through continuous and comprehensive development. The new facilities, realized with the support of community sponsors and volunteers, reflect the organisation’s determination and commitment towards the special needs children and community at large.
Principal, Dr.Analpa Paranjpe, spoke about the organisation’s continuous efforts in building a strong infrastructure for the progress of the children’s social, emotional and mental skills. The team of skilled staff from various disciplines of Special Needs have always focused on training children to deal with daily activities and real life situations. The centre also highlights the need of nurturing creativity apart from academic and recreational activities.
“This is a continuation of the efforts which began in 2016 when the entire organisation underwent a total revamp of its facilities. We have been continuing ever since to build on our capabilities and services, aiming to be at par with global standards, with total commitment from everyone in the CSE family. We thank all the sponsors and volunteers from the community who have continually supported us in this endeavour,” responded Dr. Baby Sam Saamuel, the newly elected BOD Chairman, and also Director-In Charge of CSE since 2016.
The guests toured the centre where they familiarised themselves with its services and equipment that are consistent with the best in the field of rehabilitation of special children. They were briefed by the Principal and School management committee on its mechanisms of work and its role in empowering children with special needs.
The evening also witnessed the felicitation of CSE student, MasterSuleiman Masoud Al Sharji, who displayed an exceptional performance at the recently concluded IX MENA Special Olympics held in Abu Dhabi, winning 2 silver and 2 bronze medals in the Powerlifting category.
Sponsors and well–wishers were also felicitated for their relentless support and service to the organisation over the years. A group of artists were specially honoured for rendering their artistic touch to the newly introduced play area.
The principal, Dr. Analpa took a moment to thank and honour Dr. Baby Sam Saamuelfor his dedicated and passionate service to the Center. She mentioned the pivotal role he has played in giving CSE a complete facelift.
CSE strives to meet the needs of the children with state of the art facilities to encourage mental, social and overall development, providing ample opportunities for learning through interaction, expression, play, recreation and sports striving towards optimal independence.
