INDIAN SCHOOLS IN OMAN ORGANISE BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN

Underscoring its positive role in serving local communities, the Indian Schools in Oman will be organising blood donation camps on their premises starting from 15th August. It has been decided to conduct the camps in all the twenty Indian Schools between 15th August and 18th November, the dates signifying the nationally important days of India and Oman respectively.

The campaign shall kick off at Indian Schools Muladha, Nizwa, Khasab, Saham and Salalah who will be holding their blood donation camp on the 15th of August, the 72nd Independence Day of India.

According to the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, humanitarian service is yet another dimension of holistic education, which is the hallmark of Indian Schooling system. In this regard, the Board of Directors of the Indian Schools in Oman has been initiating a number of initiatives which caters to the all-round development of students in Indian Schools.

“The Indian Schools in Oman are coming together as a community to raise blood donations and also much needed awareness about the need for the same. The blood donation campaign is an extension of our moral and social commitment and reflects the values we teach at our schools. We therefore request wholesome participation from the faculty, parents and community members,” said Dr. Baby Sam Saamuel, Chairman, Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman.

As a community project, a large number of staff, parents and public are expected to participate in the camps and thus support the noble mission.

CSE – ANNUAL CONCERT 2019

‘Care and Special Education’ wing of Indian School Muscat organized its annual concert on Saturday, 16th November 2019 with scintillating performances of children on the theme ‘Celebrating Life’. The musical extravaganza held at the new multipurpose hall of Indian School Muscat held the audience spellbound by the exuberance and talent showcased by the children.

Honourable Madam Yuthar Al Rawahy, Founder of Oman Cancer Association, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. His Excellency Dr. Wahid Ali Said Al Kharusi, President of Oman Cancer Association, Mrs. SiddiqaBint Abdul Majeed Al Lawatiya, Director of International Schools Office, Ministry of Education, and Mr. G.S. Bhavani Prasad, Director in Charge of Care and Special Education were the Guests of Honour.

The event was also graced by Dr. Baby Sam Saamuel, Chairman, Board of Directors, Indian Schools Oman, Members on the Indian School Board and Mr. Saurabh Saksena, President, CSE Management Committee and members of the CSE Advisory Council and CSE Management Committee.

Chief Guest Honourable Madam Yuthar Al Rawahy lauded the efforts of the management and teachers for their indefatigable efforts in touching the lives of the children at Care and Special Education. The Chief Guest was overwhelmed by the unparalleled skills displayed by the children through their performances.

Mr. Saurabh Saksena, President of the CSE Management Committee, welcomed the august gathering. “This concert is not a destination, but a journey. The learning outcome of the concert is tremendous for the children: they get to learn important life skills like patience, caring and sharing, etc. The message is ‘Do not wait for the perfect moment; take the moment and make it perfect’”, Mr. Saksena said.

Indian School Board Chairman Dr. Baby Sam Saamuel reminisced the way CSE has gone from strength to strength over the years and said CSE is an epitome of collaborative educational system wherein the best facilities are provided for our children through concerted efforts. Dr. Sam thanked the Ministry of Education for its encouraging patronage in all educational endeavours of the Board.

The variety entertainment programme that followed enraptured the audience with amazing display of talents. The welcome song by children holding glittering pom-poms marked the beginning of the show and gave the audience a glimpse of what the evening had in store for them. CSE musical band ‘Mystical Beats’ was inaugurated on the occasion by the Guest of Honour His Excellency Dr. Wahid Ali Said Al Kharusi.

Another attraction of the evening was the display of extraordinary memory by Master Pranav Ayachit who could recall any information pertaining to Indian Premier Cricket League.

CSE staff who completed 10 years of service were felicitated on the occasion. Members of the Advisory Council and CSE Management Committee were honoured with mementos for their relentless support to the school. CSE in Charge Mrs. Sheeba Naqvi proposed the vote of thanks.

The evening left the audience with joy and optimism, the feeling of being part of a Broadway Musicals, with the students getting into the soul of the character, be it acting, dancing or singing.

INDIAN SCHOOL MUSCAT CROWNED CHAMPIONS OF INDIAN SCHOOL TALENT FEST – 2019

The Board of Directors, Indian Schools in the Sultanate of Oman, hosted the first edition of Indian School Talent Fest – ISTF, an Inter-School panorama of cultural events formerly known as Jhankaar Spectrum. The two-day cultural extravaganza was hosted by Indian School Muscat on its premises on October 31, 2019 and November 1, 2019.
This mammoth event organised by any educational body in the Middle East showcased 2000 plus participants and their talents in 27 events held at different venues. Students were also given an opportunity to showcase their unique talents as a non-competitive event.

The event was inaugurated by His Excellency Shri Munu Mahawar, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman. Dr. Baby Sam Saamuel, Chairman Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, Officials from the Indian Embassy, other honourable members from the Board, Mr Ajaykummar J – President Indian SchoolMuscat Management Committee and respected members of the School Management Committee added grandeur to the inaugural ceremony. Megan Erica D’souza- Head Girl of Indian School Muscat welcomed the gathering.

The Chief Guest declared the meet open and hoisted the ISTF flag. Lauding the events at ISM the Chief Guest said, “I am delighted to be back with Indian School family for yet another mega event. I think it’s becoming a habit for Indian School family to organise events in style. I am happy that this event is also being launched on a very auspicious day when the nation is also celebrating national unity.” As a gesture of love, appreciation and gratitude, Arwa of XI K presented her artwork to His Excellency. The inaugural programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dhanvi Bharadwaj, the Head Boy.

The charm of the inaugural programme – Aladdin and Genie stole the hearts of the audience. The onlookers were taken on a journey to a paradise through a video, visiting the 19 participating Indian Schools in the Sultanate. The Co-curricular coordinator, Ms.Rithya Cherian administered the oath on behalf of all the participants.

The carnival of talents concluded with a colourful valedictory function at 4.30 pm on November 1, 2019.The benign presence of the Chief Guest Dr. Baby Sam Saamuel, Chairman – Board of Directors Indian Schools in the Sultanate of Oman, esteemed members of the Board of Directors, Mr Ajaykummar J – President Indian School Muscat Management Committee, other honourable members of the School Management Committee, Principal Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan, Principals of the participating schools, dignitaries, invitees and well-wishers enriched the momentous culmination of the programme.

Dhiya Elsa Binoy, Head Girl, Middle Section accorded a formal welcome to the august gathering. The best performers of the UTAR mesmerized the gathering with their phenomenal talents. By means of a video presentation of 71 unique talents from the various Indian Schools and the ISTF Digital Report, glimpses of the day of exuberance were brought home to all. The beautiful rendition of Indian School Talent Fest Anthem and the welcome dance Mile Sur MeraTumharaset the ambiance of the day.

The Chief Guest, Dr Baby Sam Saamuel, Chairman – Board of Directors Indian Schools, in his address thanked His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said for being magnanimous and generous towards the needs of the Indian Community in the Sultanate. He also thanked the Ministry of Education for their benevolent, wholesome and unconditional support in establishing schools to foster the cultural and educational needs of the Indian students. Dr Saamuel reiterated that ISTF is a platform for the celebration of all the skills and strengths of children and exhorted students to think out of the box. Through the example of recent research, he explained how skills development leads to better satisfaction and also highlighted that small challenges through games & fun that stimulate the mind, bring about better & quicker learners. He wholeheartedly congratulated all the participants and the winners of the first edition of ISTF.

The Chief Guest honoured the prize winning schools with mementoes and certificates of participation. The auditorium reverberated with jubilance and celebration as Indian School Muscat lifted the most covetedfirst-ever-overall championship trophy of the ISTF 2019.Indian School Salalah and Indian School Darsait were declaredFirst and Second Runners-up of the event respectively.

The curtain of this mega cultural fiesta rolled down as the Chief Guest, Dr.Baby Sam Saamuel, Chairman- Board of Directors of Indian Schools in the Sultanate of Oman lowered the ISTF flag ceremoniously and handed it over to Mr. Jolly Mathews – President – SMC – Indian School Al Mabella and the Vice Principal of Indian School Al Mabellafor the safe custody until the next, Indian School Talent Fest. Joshua Alex Pretheesh, Head Boy, Middle Section bid adieu to the programme with a special note of gratitude to the sponsors for their generous contribution in making this great event a grand success.

The Principal of ISM – Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan shared that hosting the Indian Schools Talent Fest was another refreshing chapter in the annals of ISM as it addressed the multifaceted talents of the student community in an innovative manner. This massive array of art, linguistic and cultural events spoke volumes about the extent of the dedication and commitment of the organizers.
